Welcome to my Reflections Blog. This blog is a collection of events, resources, activities and reflections of my work as an Educator in Auckland, New Zealand. These posts are my own thoughts and opinions and are not a direct reflection of my employers.
What if all teachers had high expectations for every student?
A day spent at the LITHE (Leaders Influencing Teacher's High Expectations) course at Auckland Uni. Lots of food for thought. Once again, conflicting thoughts, challenging thinking...watch this space!
Thanks for sharing Michelle. I think it is definitely more engrained in people (myself included) to ability group in reading than in other learning areas. I recently socially-grouped my reading groups for literacy circles (still somewhat ability grouped but that was coincidental) and found it worked really well. As they were really good friends, they were much more open to helping each other than in normal ability grouped where they might not necessarily know or like each other. Interesting food for thought..
