SPCA - One of the Family at TPS.

This week, we were lucky enough to be visited by Norm Hewitt, ambassador for the SPCA, who introduced us to the "One of the Family" programme.  This programme promotes the message that animals are part of the family who deserve humane treatment.  Norm made links between animal cruelty and family violence.  He shared his experiences growing up with domestic violence and how important animals were to him and still are.
He also talked about the importance of having a dream and shared his experiences and achievements in rugby and in becoming an All Black.
We really enjoyed Norms presentation and look forward to having him back to work in our school again one day.

DESIGN TECHNOLOGY - Design Spots in Panmure

Stone Cottage
This year we have introduced the subject of Design to our technology curriculum.  Students are studying what design is and the principles and processes it involves.  In our first session, we discussed the ubiquitous nature of design and examined 'design spots' in our local community.  After identifying some of these design spots, we went on an excursion to photograph the spots and our first project is to design a map identifying the design spots we think are most relevant in our Panmure.  These are just a few of the spots we selected.  There will be others students will use in their maps.
